Maps and Historical Data
The Observatory will create a gateway for land-use data at the local and continental scale. The goal is to enable the comprehensive assessment and analysis of patterns, change, and drivers of:
- Land use
- Land cover
- Land management
The system will collect information that ecological modelers and forecasters can use to extend their models to a continental scale. It will organize data from many sources, including:
- Federal agency data on past and current land use practices
- Economic and social data
- Satellite remote-sensing data on ecosystem performance
- Topographic data from national databases
This component of the Observatory is called the Land Use Analysis Package (LUAP)
