Dean Urban is Director of the Landscape Ecology Laboratory in the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences at Duke University, where he is Associate Professor. His research interests include tactical sampling of landscapes, comparative studies of forested landscapes under contrasting climate regimes, and the causes and consequences of land use change in the North Carolina Piedmont. He is a member of the Land Use SHDC and the National Network Design Committee.
