Knute J. Nadelhoffer is co-chair of the NEON Biogeochemical Cycles Subcommittee (Science & Human Dimensions Committee). He is a Professor in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan and is Director of the UM Biological Station. He is an ecosystems ecologist with expertise in arctic tundra and temperate forest biogeochemistry. He uses isotopes (13C, 14C, 15N) to investigate responses to disturbance and climate change. He was a researcher at the Ecosystems Center of the Marine Biological Laboratory (Woods Hole, Massachusetts) from 1983 through 2002 and was co-Director of the NSF Ecosystem Studies Program in 2002-2003. He is President-elect of the Association of Ecosystem Research Centers.
