Margaret Lowman (“Meg”), Informal Education subcommittee, is Director of Environmental Initiatives and Professor of Biology and Environmental Studies at New College of Florida. Meg has pioneered forest canopy ecology, including the development of balloons, walkways, and other methods to explore the treetops. She served as the director of a botanical garden where she championed science outreach, including authorship of a popular book, Life in the Treetops, and participation in the Jason Expedition, a global distance learning program for K-12. At New College, she is spearheading new initiatives for science education, ecological research, and outreach in Sarasota County.
