Chris Field

Chris Field served as Chair of the NEON Director of Science Search Committee and as a Senior Science Advisor at the NEON technical evaluation meeting in Boulder, February, 2007. He is the founding director of the Carnegie Institution’s Department of Global Ecology, Professor of Biological Sciences at Stanford University, and Faculty Director of Stanford’s Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. Dr. Field is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences. His research emphasizes ecological contributions across the range of earth-science disciplines. For more than ten years, he has led major experiments on grassland responses to global change that integrate approaches ranging from remote sensing to molecular biology. He served as Chair of the revision committee of the NEON Integrated Science and Education Plan (ISEP). Dr. Field has been approved by the NEON, Inc. Board of Directors as Chair of the NEON Science, Technology, and Education Advisory Committee (STEAC).
