John Aber

John Aber, a forest ecosystem ecologist, is a Professor in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of New Hampshire, where he chairs the new undergraduate major in Environmental Science. Dr. Aber holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and Applied Science (Computer Science), and a Master’s and Ph.D. in Forestry and Environmental Studies, all from Yale University. His areas of research include biogeochemistry of forest systems, especially nitrogen cycling, and the development of computer models of ecosystem function that are linked to geographic information systems, with applications to questions of atmospheric deposition and climate change.
