NEON Forest Ecologist Receives Heinz Award
Jerry Franklin, a professor of ecosystem analysis at the University of Washington, is one of six notable Americans to receive a $250,000 award from The Heinz Family Foundation of Pittsburgh. Dr. Franklin is a respected expert on sustainable forest management and director of the Wind River Canopy Crane Research Facility in Carson, Washington. He also does triple duty for NEON, serving as Co-chair of the Consortium Development Committee, and as a member of the Senior Management Team and the National Network Design Committee.
