Climate on the Hill

NEON CEO David Schimel joined scientists and government officials of the US Climate Change Science Program (CCSP) in Washington, DC, for the release of a new report assessing climate change impacts. "The Effects of Climate Change on Agriculture, Land Resources, Water Resources, and Biodiversity in the United States," was made available on May 27, 2008. Among other key issues, the report addresses the limitations of observation systems for identifying the consequences of climate and other stresses and how they are likely to change in the future. The CCSP integrates federal research on climate and global change. It is sponsored by 13 federal agencies and overseen by the Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Council on Environmental Policy, the National Economic Council, and the Office of Management and Budget.
