NEON hosted a visit from Congressman Jared Polis on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. NEON is garnering more interest from Boulder community leaders as it joins the ranks of leading climate science research organizations in Boulder.
Polis heard a short presentation from NEON CEO David Schimel and Chief of Education Wendy Gram about NEON's goals and priorities, then took a short tour of NEON HQ. Shortly after, Polis, his staff and NEON staff hopped into vans to tour NEON’s test facility located at the NOAA Table Mountain site in North Boulder.
Polis and NEON share several priorities, including working toward solutions to addressing climate change impacts and the importance of science education, particularly for underrepresented populations.
Once NEON is fully operational, the data and observations it produces will in part help predict the impacts of climate change and contribute to the development of scenarios related to adaptation and mitigation of climate change.
