Director of Quality Management
The National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON, Inc.), a continental-scale research platform for understanding and forecasting the impact of climate change, land use change, and invasive species on ecology, has an immediate opening in Boulder, Colorado for a full-time Director of Quality Management to develop, document, and enforce a wide range of protocols to ensure that systems and products satisfy NEON requirements.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Director of Quality Management is a senior leadership position that is central to the integrity of NEON data and information as a long-term national resource. As the Director of Quality Management you will be primarily responsible for developing high-level cross functional approaches for the construction, procurement, and operation of a wide range of NEON sensors, laboratory analyses and computer systems with project scientists, technical experts, civil engineers, and systems engineers.
Additional duties include: consulting with the other appropriate staff to develop and design methods and standards to ensure systems and products operate at the highest possible standard with the minimum QA/QC requirements to ensure operating costs remain flexible and construction activities meet appropriate standards and requirements. You will also evaluate and communicate the QA/QC requirements for different measurements and information management approaches, and design, develop, document and maintaining a wide range of Test Plans consistent with the strategy.
The successful candidate will have superior problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to architect a comprehensive QA/QC program for an extremely sophisticated, complex, and distributed continental-scale environmental monitoring facility.
