About BudBurst at the Refuges

The US Fish and Wildlife Service's National Wildlife Refuge System and Project BudBurst have teamed up to create BudBurst at the Refuges. Changing climates could impact National Wildlife Refuges, our nation's most treasured natural resources and the public lands that provide critical habitat for plants and other organisms. By working together, staff and volunteers from Project BudBurst, the National Wildlife Refuge System, and the highly acclaimed Friends of the Refuges program are learning more about how key Refuge plants respond to changes in their environments.

BudBurst at the Refuges was designed to help you experience the National Wildlife Refuge System through the lives of plants. Participants in BudBurst at the Refuges help monitor the life cycles of plants at a Refuge. When you become a part of our growing community, you provide plant observations that help further a better understanding about how Refuge plant communities are responding to changing climates and environments. For more information, check out our resource below. You can also view our BudBurst at the Refuges Partner List At-A-Glance.
